Covid 19 and the Electoral Colloge

The disastrous results of Covid 19 in hot spots like New York City is a perfect example of what would happen if the Electoral College were eliminated.

The left has been arguing for years that Presidential elections should be decided by majority vote, not the Electoral College. They cry (when they lose) it's not fair for Middle America to have an equal say in the election. They claim the minority is nullifying the will of the majority.

Middle America argues the Electoral College should not be eliminated or else  New York, California and Florida would decide every election. The citizens of the Midwest have differing ideas than New York and shouldn't be governed by them.

Along comes the Covid 19 pandemic. New York for many reasons was hit hardest. However, New York level solutions, like the closing of businesses and lock downs was applied to most of America.

Businesses were closed and jobs lost in areas with NO deaths from Covid 19. But, everyone was subject to the one size fits all treatment.

The same holds true for the Electoral College. One size does not fit all. What would work in New York would be a disaster in Wyoming.

New York as of this writing has had 26,920 Covid 19 deaths, Wyoming- 7, my State of Minnesota - 578. It should also be noted the majority of deaths were in nursing homes.

Each State needs their own voice in Pandemic response and Elections. The New York treatment is not necessary for most of America, arguably not even for most of NY State.

One size does not fit all. New York rules shouldn't be applied nationwide in Pandemic policy or Elections.
